# 05. Rules: Concept
Rules are sets of the instructions for the dealing processes described above. These instructions are loaded directly into either Plugin or Manager API versions via the [Rule Editor](https://support-beta.brokeree.com/help/484057321671?hsLang=en).
The solution works on behalf of an existing dealer account on a server, therefore it influences only certain groups which the dealer has permissions to work with. Dealing Desk listens to trading events coming from these groups, and once a trade request has appeared, the dealer intercepts its execution by MetaTrader and takes the actions predefined in the rules.
### **Default rule**
In case there are no suitable rules for an incoming request, the application will try to apply the predefined [default rule](https://support-beta.brokeree.com/help/484043746496?hsLang=en) to it. There are two types of settings of the default rule:
- for Trading requests
- for Non-trading requests
They are split as from the broker’s perspective there is no reason for Non-trading requests neither to be delayed nor to get profits from slippage.
